Please read carefully. Jan ONLY teaches in his private home in Sherwood Park or does the Giant Steps group classes. When you register for lessons with him you are registering for "In home" lessons. 

Jan Janovsky is a dynamic musician and the owner of Classic Studios. His talent is being able to bring out the talent and unique voices of students. Consider him the piano whisperer. 

His students get into music Universities like Juilliard, University of Toronto, UBC, New York, U of A to University of Leeds and generally into the courses of their choosing. 

His students receive top marks on RCM examinations, and are local, provincial and national winners. Students range from engineers, singer-song writers, etc. 

Lessons with Jan are 80.00 per hour. 

Jan teaches improv, compostion, piano performance and group lessons. Lessons are by audition only, space is limited.

Kurt is a music graduate from the University of Alberta where he specialized in music composition and piano performance.  With a rich background in classical and contemporary music, Kurt teaches a diverse range of subjects, including piano, clarinet, music theory, and composition.  His teaching experience spans all ages and skill levels, from enthusiastic beginners to advanced students tackling the works of monumental composers like Liszt and Chopin.

Kurt’s teaching philosophy extends beyond traditional classical music.  He is committed to exposing his students to a variety of genres, helping them explore new sounds and concepts to become well-rounded musicians.  His lessons emphasize not only technical proficiency such as music theory and ear training but also musical expression.  

In addition to cultivating musical skills, Kurt focuses on instilling practical life skills such as discipline, concentration, and muscle coordination.  His holistic approach aims to foster well-rounded musicians who are prepared for both artistic and personal challenges.

Steeped in improvised jazz tradition, Eric Weiden is a trumpet player and pianist who has spent decades pursuing identity in sound. After leaving Indiana University in the mid nineties, he spent years touring: as a big band member (Tommy Dorsey Orchestra & Guy Lombardo); and, with multiple Broadway musical U.S. national tours. Eric also performed and/or recorded with Calexico, Giantsand, the Abramson Singers, as well as many jazz and rock bands in western Canada. His trumpet teachers have included Dominic Spera (Indiana University jazz trumpet instructor), Bobby Shew (L.A. studio session player), Mark Van Cleave (lead trumpet with The Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra) and John Rommel (principal trumpet with The Nashville Symphony).

Eric has taught private trumpet and beginner piano lessons for around 20 years. Trumpet students have included casual and semi-pro adult students, casual school-aged students, school aged-students who have been selected for national honor bands, as well as young beginner students. His piano students have included young children from age three up to adult beginners as well as family lessons where parents and children learn together. Eric has taught many school clinics for jr. and sr. high students. Also, Eric completed a Masters in Arts Education at SFU, and taught middle school students at a Montessori school for five years.

Eric is also currently a lecturer at Concordia University teaching early childhood music education courses and helping to develop our future k-6 school teachers.

Michael is only teaching online lessons. 

Michael Nunes is a composer and horn player from Sherwood Park, Alberta. He maintains a busy schedule of composition, arranging, engraving, performing, and educating with organizations located across Canada, including the National Academy Orchestra of Canada, the Hannaford Youth Band, Green Room Sound Collective, and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestral Institute Orchestra.

With plenty of doubling experience, Michael is equally comfortable playing horn in an orchestra, trombone in a jazz combo, or tenor horn in a British brass band, and everything in between. He has studied with Gabriel Radford, Allene Hackleman, Neil Spaulding, James Rolfe, Larysa Kuzmenko, Allan Gilliland, and Jan Janovsky. His debut orchestral premiere was commissioned and performed by the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in 2016.

He has been awarded scholarships in brass and composition by the University of Toronto and the Alberta Provincial Music Festival.

Michael has completed his Bachelor of Music program at the University of Toronto, studying composition with Professor Gary Kulesha, and horn with Nicholas Hartman. He currently in New York starting his Master's degree in composition and horn. 

He will be a featured soloist with the Hannaford Youth Band in their 2021-2022 season. Michael is a member of SOCAN and the Canadian League of Composers, as well as a founding member of Green Room Sound Collective. He currently performs and writes for the National Academy Orchestra of Canada.
